The Velocity Modeling Module provides 2D or 3D grid construction and time-to-depth conversions by modeling the entire geologic column, accurately locating reservoirs and mapping potential drilling hazards in the overburden. |
Why |
Depth migrations and drilling are resource intensive, both in time and cost. Accurate velocity models enhance imaging quality and improve drilling results in challenging environments under guidance of sharper 3D models. Properties mathematically derived from velocity can be computed to improve drilling programs. |
How |
The Velocity Modeling Module imports velocity functions, time horizons, time-depth tables, well picks, check shot data and regional velocity data. Extracted velocity information is stratigraphically interpolated preserving local dip and faulting inside properly sealed layers, fault blocks and salt bags. Velocity conversions, calibrations and time-depth conversions can be applied to different volumes. |
