What's New (1 Day)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

What's new? is a one-day course designed for geoscientists, engineers, or other technical personnel who have experience in using Earth Decision products and would like to learn more about using the new features in Earth Decision Suite version 2.1.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course covers the migration of a 2.0 project to 2.1 and the major new features and enhancements added to the Base Module and 3D Reservoir Grid Builder between 2.0 and 2.1:

  • Search window and favorites
  • Features and stratigraphic column
  • Refinement of faults and horizons contacts (fine-tuning)
  • Isochore modeling
  • Tartan gridding

You will open a 2.0.8 project and convert it to version 2.1, import raw data such as column-based files, and import seismic data by reference.

You will also be introduced to some of the new tools like the search window and the "favorites" folder.

Then, you will learn how to set up a stratigraphic column for isochore modeling.

Finally, during reservoir grid construction, you will learn how to define tartan gridding.

Introduction to Base Module (2 Days)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This 2-day course is designed for geoscientists, engineers or other technical personnel who would like to use 3D modeling technology to model both their structure and stratigraphy. A geosciences background is required but little or no reservoir modeling experience is necessary.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This introductory course provides a road-map and a complete overview of the basic functionalities to the Earth Decision Suite 2.1Base Module. You will progress through a series of comprehensive exercises designed to provide you with an opportunity to use the Earth Decision Suite tools to carry out analytical analyses, quality control, and data editing; all focused toward producing comprehensive, accurate subsurface models.

The course covers the following topics:

  • Getting started
  • Importing and loading data and saving projects and objects
  • Manipulating and visualizing objects
  • Preparing data for modeling
  • Defining geologic information for modeling
  • Building a structural model, refining it, and then visualizing the completed model
  • Building a 3D reservoir grid

Introduction to Reservoir Properties (1 Day)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This 1-day course is designed for geoscientists, engineers or other technical personnel who would like to use 3D modeling technology for reservoir modeling. You should have a basic to good understanding of geostatistics before the training.

ABOUT THE COURSE

Introduction to Reservoir Propertiesis not intended to be a comprehensive course covering the entire product's functionality. Rather, the goal is to help you start using the Reservoir Properties Workflow quickly and understand its key features.

  • Lesson 1 provides an introduction to the Reservoir Properties Workflow.
  • Lesson 2 shows you how to use the workflow to model (simulate) three petrophysical properties on a stratigraphic grid.
  • Lesson 3 covers post-processing computations.

Reservoir Risk Analysis (JACTA) (1 Day)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This 1-day course is designed for geoscientists, engineers or other technical personnel who would like to use 3D modeling technology for risk analysis. JACTA uses a unique technology that integrates uncertainty on geometry, facies, petrophysics, and fluid contacts. Experience in the Reservoir Properties Module is required along with a fundamental understanding of geostatistics.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This advanced course allows you to rapidly and systematically analyze reservoir uncertainty and hence optimize the decision making process. No scenarios are left behind and no scenarios are over-worked in the identification of key uncertainties for the asset team.

JACTA integrates all of the reservoir knowledge and uncertainties to build thousands of equi-probable reservoir models for a complete risk analysis. In a unique workflow, JACTA combines geometry, facies, rock properties and fluid uncertainties to analyze reservoir volumes distribution and rank uncertainty parameters. JACTA includes all the geostatistical algorithms available in the GOCAD Suite for generating models. JACTA allows the specification of uncertainty of geostatistical parameters to capture uncertainty on the conceptual geological and petrophysical model. Modeling different reservoir scenarios and looking at the combined risk is handled automatically by JACTA.

  • Introduction to JACTA
    • Exercises
    • The model
    • Simulation Parameters
    • Run a Simulation
    • Analyze the results
  • How to get started in JACTA
  • Building a JACTA Model from an existing SGRID
  • Creating a new Parameter Set
  • Creating a simulation run.

Volume Interpretation (1 Day)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This 1-day course is designed for geoscientists, engineers or other technical personnel who work in seismic interpretation and quality control. You will learn how to use Volume Interpretation to visualize quality control and interpret in 3D.  A geosciences background is required with experience with the Base Module (Introduction to GOCAD).

ABOUT THE COURSE

This workshop emphasizes visualization of seismic volumes, quality control of the structural model and computation of geophysical attributes.

  • Probe and co-rendering:
    • Create probes
    • Visualize probes with multi properties
  • Dice and slice through seismic cube:
    • QC interpretation
    • Update fault modeling
    • Arbitrary volume
  • Interpretative Modeling
    • Horizon and fault extractions
    • QC modeling by seismic
  • Compute geophysical attributes

Velocity Modeling (1 Day)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The Velocity Modeling course is a one day course designed for geoscientists, engineers and other technical personnel who need to build a velocity model for time-depth conversion.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The course progresses through a series of comprehensive exercises designed to learn and apply the Earth Decision Velocity Modeling tools. The process includes:
